Notre Dame drops to seventh in AP poll

Notre Dame dropped two spots to No. 7 in the Associated Press poll released Sunday following Saturday night's 31-27 loss at No. 2 Florida State. The Irish, who fell to 6-1, entered the game ranked No. 5. The Irish dropped to No. 8 in the Amway Coaches Poll released earlier.

Mississippi State, Florida State, Mississippi, Alabama, Auburn and Oregon are ranked ahead of the Irish in the AP poll. Michigan State, Georgia and TCU round out the AP top 10.

Mississippi State remains at No. 1 in the Coaches Pool, followed by FSU, Mississippi, Alabama, Michigan State, Auburn, Oregon, ND, Georgia and TCU.

The Irish are off this Saturday before playing Navy Nov. 1 at Landover, Md.
