Notre Dame moves up in both polls

Notre Dame, which was idle this weekend, moved up a spot in the two polls released Sunday. The Irish are ranked No. 6 in the Associated Press poll, No. 7 in the Amway Coaches poll.

The 6-1 Irish play Navy at FedEx Field in Landover, Md., Saturday night.

Mississippi State remains No. 1 in the AP poll, followed by Florida State, Alabama, Auburn, Oregon, ND, Mississippi, Michigan State, Georgia and TCU.

In the Coaches poll Mississippi State remains in the No. 1 spot, followed by defending national champ Florida State, Alabama, Auburn, Michigan State and Oregon. Georgia is one spot behind the Irish, witht Mississippi and TCU rounding out the top 10.

The first set of rankings as determined by the College Football Playoff Selection Committee will be announced Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. (Eastern) on ESPN.
