Notre Dame football coach Brian Kelly said Saturday that starting defensive lineman Sheldon Day and cornerback Cody Riggs will be in the starting lineup when the Irish face LSU in the Dec. 30 Music City Bowl. Day had been out with a knee injury and Riggs a stress reaction in his foot.

Day missed the final two regular season games while Riggs sat out the Arizona State and USC games.

Kelly also said on Saturday that there is no resolution on the quarterback competition between 12-game starter Everett Golson and redshirt freshman Malik Zaire. Kelly said both will play in the Dec. 30 Music City Bowl against LSU, but has yet to name a starter.

"They're still competing," Kelly said. "They're still working on their craft."

Kelly said that fifth-year senior right tackle Christian Lombard has been battling a lower back condition, with redshirt freshman Mike McGlinchey taking reps at the spot. McGlinchey replaced Lombard in the Nov. 29  loss to USC.

Kelly also said that senior linebacker Jarrett Grace, out since October 2013 because of a broken leg, has been going through contact drills at practice.
