Temple’s ninth week ever as a ranked team in the Associated Press College Football Poll just got a little more eventful.

ABC-TV has selected the 22nd-ranked Owls’ Halloween matchup with 11th-ranked Notre Dame to be its primetime showcase on Oct. 31.

The game from sold-out Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia will kick off at 8 p.m. EDT and be televised nationally.

Per Temple’s football website, it is the first time that an American Athletic Conference team has been selected as the ABC's Saturday Football Game and it is the first primetime full national telecast for the conference. It is also the first time Temple Football will be televised nationally by the network.

The Owls (6-0 overall, 3-0 AAC) have a tough road game this week at East Carolina (4-3, 2-1) before facing the Irish. That game is set for this Thursday night at 7 p.m. EDT on ESPN2.

The Pirates put a scare into Florida on the road Sept. 12, before falling, 31-24.

The six wins to open the season for Temple ties for the best start in program history. The Owls moved into the polls Sunday, marking the program's first national ranking since being 17th in the final polls of the 1979 season.

The Irish (6-1), fresh off a 41-31 win over arch-rival USC, have a bye week this week.
