ESPN's College GameDay returning to South Bend on Sept. 1 for Notre Dame-Michigan
ESPN announced Saturday that College GameDay will make an appearance at the Notre Dame football season opener with Michigan, Sept. 1 at Notre Dame Stadium.
It’s the 29th time GameDay has appeared at an Irish game, with 19 of those coming on the road, one at a neutral site.
ND’s history with the popular pregame show is a mixed bag. The Irish are 12-16 in the previous 28 appearances, but the last time GameDay came to South Bend — Oct. 13, 2012, for Stanford — the Irish not only won that game but went on to complete an unbeaten regular season. The Irish are 4-4 in those eight home appearances.
Notre Dame hosted the first on-campus edition of College GameDay on Nov. 13, 1993, when No. 1 Florida State visited to take on the second-ranked Irish. Lou Holtz’s squad handed the Seminoles a 31-24 defeat after the show aired from the Joyce Center.
