Notre Dame contingent shines in Senior Bowl

The Notre Dame football contingent concluded a strong week of practice with more highlights in the actual Senior Bowl game, Saturday at Mobile, Ala.

Irish wide receiver Chase Claypool caught two passes for six yards, including a one-yard TD strike from Washington State’s Anthony Gordon for the winning North team in a 34-17 romp.

ND cornerback Troy Pride Jr., who dominated practices during the week, had an interception for the North on Saturday and returned it 33 yards. He also was credited with a tackle and an assist in the premier all-senior showcase for NFL scouts.

Irish safety Jalen Elliott had two tackles in the game, and earlier in the week was named the North squad’s Defensive Back of the Week by the Senior Bowl staff for his practice performances. Fellow safety Alohi Gilman suffered a hamstring injury late in the week and was a late scratch for the game.
