Two more Notre Dame football players tested positive for COVID-19, the program announced Saturday.

The two positive tests occurred over the past week, which included 206 administered tests. Two other players were put into quarantine through contact tracing connected to the two positive tests.

Notre Dame hadn’t released new testing results since Aug. 20 when five players tested positive and six others were placed in quarantine. Notre Dame paused practice that week for three days before resuming that Saturday.

Since the football program began testing on June 18, 11 positive tests have been discovered through 1,057 tests to players and staff. All 11 positive tests belonged to players.

The Irish practiced in Notre Dame Stadium on Friday and Saturday. The season opener against Duke remains on schedule for Sept. 12.

Katy (Texas) Tompkins' Tunmise Adeleye, a 2021 defensive end, reported a Notre Dame scholarship offer on Jan. 15.
