Notre Dame men's basketball: Grant a finalist

Notre Dame senior guard Jerian Grant is one of 16 finalists named Wednesday to represent the United States next month at the World University Games.

Fellow Irish senior guard Eric Atkins was one of 10 players released following two days of training camp at the United States Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo.

Other candidates to make the 12-player team, which will be finalized this weekend and will compete July 7-16 in Kazan, Russia, are Indiana's Yogi Ferrell and Will Sheehey and Michigan State's Adreian Payne.

Grant led the Irish in scoring last season at 13.3 points per game, and was a second team All-Big East selection.
