Notre Dame men's basketball: Irish grad Quinn hired at NU

Northwestern basketball coach Chris Collins has hired Chris Quinn as the team's new director of player development.

Quinn is a 2006 graduate of Notre Dame, where he was a two-time captain and made first-team All-Big East as a senior by averaging 17.7 points and 6.4 assists. He was named to the league's Academic All-Star Team three times and was the recipient of the Big East Sportsmanship Award his senior year.

A native of Dublin, Ohio, Quinn played six seasons in the NBA for the Miami, New Jersey, San Antonio and Cleveland Cavaliers, appearing in 241 games. He averaged career bests of 7.8 points, 3.0 assists and 2.0 rebounds for the Heat during in 2007-08. Quinn also played professionally in Russia and Spain.
