The first step was completed last week for four former Notre Dame men's basketball players hoping to make the NBA their home next season.

For most, the week spent at the Samsung Summer League in Las Vegas was a success. For former All-American Luke Harangody, more work may need to be done to get back on an Association roster for training camp, which starts Oct. 1.

Here is a quick look at how former Irish standouts Pat Connaughton, Jack Cooley, Jerian Grant and Harangody fared during their time in Las Vegas:

PAT CONNAUGHTON

TEAM: Portland Trail Blazers

STATS: Averaged 7.2 points, 4.8 rebounds and 1.6 steals in 22.8 minutes. Played and started five games with one DNP-CD (did not play, coach's decision). He shot 41.2 percent from the field, 43.8 percent from 3 and 25 percent from the foul line.

BEST GAME: Connaughton scored 11 points with six rebounds, two assists and a steal in 24 minutes during a 93-80 victory July 12 against Dallas.

NOTE: The former Irish swingman left Las Vegas to return home Saturday to Massachusetts with a three-year contract. The first two are years guaranteed.

JACK COOLEY

TEAM: Utah Jazz

STATS: In eight games (three in Utah's summer session in Salt Lake City before five in Las Vegas), Cooley averaged 7.9 points, 6.9 rebounds and 0.4 assists in 19.5 minutes. He shot 51.3 percent from the field and 59.6 percent from the foul line.

BEST GAME: He scored 13 points with 13 rebounds in 16 minutes July 6 in a 100-92 victory over Boston.

NOTE: The only former Irish to appear in the NBA last season, Cooley signed a multi-year deal with Utah, which holds the option for 2015-16.

JERIAN GRANT

TEAM: New York Knicks

STATS: Averaged 11.8 points, 3.2 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 1.6 steals in 27.4 minutes. Grant started all five games and shot 39.1 percent from the field, 50 percent from 3 and 90 percent from the foul line.

BEST GAME: Against No. 2 pick D'Angelo Russell and the Los Angeles Lakers on July 13, Grant went for 10 points, eight assists and four steals in the 76-66 victory.

NOTE: As a first-round draft pick, Grant automatically received a three-year contract where the first two seasons are guaranteed.

LUKE HARANGODY

TEAM: Phoenix Suns.

STATS: Averaged 4.0 points, 3.0 rebounds and 0.5 steals in 11.5 minutes over two games with one start. The second-leading scorer in Notre Dame history shot 22.2 percent from the field, 25 percent from 3 and 75 percent from the foul line.

BEST GAME: He scored five points with three rebounds and two blocks in 14 minutes during an 86-77 victory July 11 over Washington.

NOTE: Harangody appeared in the first two games for Phoenix, then did not play (coach's decision) in the last three.
