[Comment From Mike CMike C: ] Tom, who do u think will be Notre Dame's leading scorer this year?
 Thursday September 1, 2016 11:07 Mike C

11:09
[Comment From Adam SAdam S: ] Any recruiting intel? Seems like they have a great shot at Harvey from DeMatha?
 Thursday September 1, 2016 11:09 Adam S

11:11
[Comment From Alex from CincinnatiAlex from Cincinnati: ] How do you see the ND starting lineup and rotation working out this year?
Thursday September 1, 2016 11:11 Alex from Cincinnati

11:14
[Comment From Alex SAlex S: ] Are you worried about the fact that we have no commits and no one seems to be really high on us? (In the '17 class)
 Thursday September 1, 2016 11:14 Alex S

11:17
[Comment From joe from the south sidejoe from the south side: ] Tom: Read a report whereby it stated that Mooney has been sick all summer. Can you expand on that?
Thursday September 1, 2016 11:17 joe from the south side

11:19
[Comment From ernieernie: ] If Jackson would have known he was going in the second round, would he have come back for another year at ND?
 Thursday September 1, 2016 11:19 ernie

11:23
[Comment From Andrew from phillyAndrew from philly: ] Tell me something exciting for the upcoming season. I can't see us having a good year this year without Jackson and auguste
Thursday September 1, 2016 11:23 Andrew from philly

11:26
[Comment From joe from the south sidejoe from the south side: ] Tom: Considering ND is the only team to get to the Elite 8 two years in a row, and with the addition of new blood on the coaching staff, should we be cautiously optimistic or fairly disappointed that the recruiting thus far has been lackluster. I would have expected some kind of a bounce. No?
Thursday September 1, 2016 11:26 joe from the south side

11:28
[Comment From Mike+CMike+C: ] Of the three guys you mentioned (Burns, Mooney, Torres) which one do you think will see the most minutes?
 Thursday September 1, 2016 11:28 Mike+C

11:30
[Comment From Mike+CMike+C: ] As far as the starting lineup, if Bret wanted to insert ryan pflueger or Gibbs do you think he would be hesitant to put colson as the line big with teams like Duke UNC and Syracuse having 2-3 guys 6-8, 6-9?
 Thursday September 1, 2016 11:30 Mike+C

11:33
[Comment From AkexAkex: ] Any chance any of the freshman start?
 Thursday September 1, 2016 11:33 Akex

11:34
[Comment From ernieernie: ] Is Geben ready to step up to more playing time? Can he handle ACC play?
 Thursday September 1, 2016 11:34 ernie

11:44
[Comment From NathanNathan: ] Tom, good to see the chat is back for a little. Love talking Irish BBall with you. Ive always been a big Beachem fanboy...if I told you I think Beachem has the best NBA potential of all the guys in the last few years, what would your comment back be?
 Thursday September 1, 2016 11:44 Nathan

11:47
[Comment From MattMatt: ] Tom where do you see the Irish finishing this year in the acc? Do you see this team as a top 25 team?
 Thursday September 1, 2016 11:47 Matt

11:48
[Comment From JoeJoe: ] realistic expectations this year?

Both are fairly young, and seem very relatable for recruits: ] I get what you are saying in regards to Geben HAVING to deliver. What do you think though? Does your gut say the light goes on? I know we've seen bigs under Brey develop and have that light come on in the past, but honestly, I've not seen a single flash from Geben to indicate to me that the light may come on, or to show me what he is potentially capable of.

11:52
[Comment From joe from the south sidejoe from the south side: ] Tom: Geben needs to become a poor man's version of Cooley. Play under the rim, spine straightening picks, box out, box out, box out, and convert hustle points even though the offensive probably has only one or two plays drawn up for you to score.
Thursday September 1, 2016 11:52 joe from the south side

11:53
[Comment From ernieernie: ] Are all the new assistants going to have same role as old assistants or will Brey have to handle a little bigger load this year while they learn?

[Comment From joe from the south sidejoe from the south side: ] Tom: Let me respectfully disagree with the Beachem draft slotting. The NBA draft is all about potential, not track record. How many of the incoming FR are one and done? Suffice it to say Giles, Tatum, Fultz, Dennis Smith, Josh Jackson, Lonzo Ball......they are all going to leave after one year. Then you have the next tier of guys like Grayson Allen and Rabb who could have gone last year. His best bet is not to worry about where he goes in the draft but where he goes in the NBA. I'd love to see Popp get him in SA to be the next Danny Green type.
Thursday September 1, 2016 11:58 joe from the south side

12:00
[Comment From MichelleMichelle: ] Are you buying the preseason hype (such as it is) for teams like Virginia Tech and FSU. I've even seen Pitt projected above ND. I'll believe it when I see it.
 Thursday September 1, 2016 12:00 Michelle

12:03
[Comment From GuestGuest: ] Tom, is Cameron Bieshied playing anywhere
 Thursday September 1, 2016 12:03 Guest

12:04
[Comment From Adam SAdam S: ] It seemed like Vasturia wore down quite a bit in the second half of last season. Now, he's likely to require much heavier usage, especially early on. Do you think he's ready for the full season grind as "the guy" (or at least one of two or three "guys")? Has this been talked about by Brey or Steve or anyone? Anything he's being doing differently? I think he's the most important player to this season being a success or not.
 Thursday September 1, 2016 12:04 Adam S

12:08
[Comment From joe from the south sidejoe from the south side: ] Tom: The problem with VJ is that the true seniors in the NCAA don't stand out anymore. I gave you 5 or 6 FR who are known to anyone in the country who follows CBB. Name 5 or 6 seniors at that level. Truly, he and Blossomgame (sic) might be the two best seniors in the country, but that ain't sayin' much. Personally,if he would play a little more D and bulk up a little, I think he's a coaches dream. Athletic, strong perimeter game, can finish on the inside, smart, coachable....It just that the window is so small for seniors in the NBA.
Thursday September 1, 2016 12:08 joe from the south side

12:16
[Comment From MattMatt: ] Tom considering Notre Dame plays Boston College Georgia Tech and Florida state twice and since most of our tough games ( Duke UVA SU) r at home I can see Notre Dame surpassing expectations. Thoughts ?
 Thursday September 1, 2016 12:16 Matt

12:18
[Comment From joe from the south sidejoe from the south side: ] Tom: You are exactly right. But it's about what can you do for me in 2018, not what you did in 2016.
Thursday September 1, 2016 12:18 joe from the south side

12:25
[Comment From JoeJoe: ] Any word on Diogo?
 Thursday September 1, 2016 12:25 Joe

12:26
[Comment From MattMatt: ] Tom the last two years there have been guys that haven't been in the rotation early in the year but have worked their way in and been major contributors in league play (colson in 14-15 then pflueger last year) is there a guy you could see playing that same role this year ?
 Thursday September 1, 2016 12:26 Matt

12:32
[Comment From Mike CMike C: ] Tom behind beachem who do you think will be the second leader scorer. And who do you think will be more important to this years teams success Vasturia or colson?
 Thursday September 1, 2016 12:32 Mike C

12:34
[Comment From joe from the south sidejoe from the south side: ] Tom: I believe SEPT has a few visits on schedule for potential recruits. Can you update us on that?
Thursday September 1, 2016 12:34 joe from the south side

12:35
[Comment From DD: ] Any update on the practice facility? I heard it was back to the drawing board due to the Rolf's family objections, but was told by an employee who is working to sell the new football sky boxes that they are smoothing things out and they will indeed be renovating Rolf's into a practice facility.
 Thursday September 1, 2016 12:35 D

12:42
[Comment From DD: ] Any chance fan/student support ticks up after two straight thrilling post seasons?
 Thursday September 1, 2016 12:42 D

12:44
[Comment From DD: ] Has Atkins started digging into his new job, or are his responsibilities going to kick in more in season?
 Thursday September 1, 2016 12:44 D

12:51
[Comment From DD: ] What exactly is he allowed to do? Is he able to do coaching during practice, but not sit on the bench during games? Someone on the message boards indicated you can only have X coaches on the bench.
 Thursday September 1, 2016 12:51 D

12:58
[Comment From DD: ] I know you're still getting caught up with 2017, but do you have any thoughts on 2018 recruiting? Sounds like we have a great shot with Carmody
 Thursday September 1, 2016 12:58 D

1:16
[Comment From joe from the south sidejoe from the south side: ] Tom: They have a shot at Carmody but Stallings is really putting the full court press on this kid. The old man was buddies with Jamie DIxon and Pitt is leaning on that angle. Don't count out Thad Matta either.
Thursday September 1, 2016 1:16 joe from the south side

1:17
[Comment From DD: ] Usually get the right mix of guys...for Notre Dame. Wouldn't you agree that a step up in talent is what will get us consistently to the next level in terms of success? Look at who carried us to the elite 8s: Grant, Connoughton, Jackson, Auguste, Beachem. All 4 stars, with Grant I think being the lowest rated with a few sites ranking him as a 3 star. In my opinion, it just feels like we're in a crucial window, where we have the chance to elevate our recruiting and keep it there because of the Elite 8s. Reel in the talent after these successes, start reaching the second weekend consistently because of the increased talent, and your recruiting stays at this new level.

1:23
[Comment From joe from the south sidejoe from the south side: ] Tom: My best guess. Harvey will come to ND. It almost a must for Brey and he generally gets one of these types of kids every three or four years. If not ND, then ARIZ or LOUIS. I think they have a shot at Morsell. I am leaning on the Eric Atkins angle here. The down side is that Turgeon has made him and MARY high school recruiting a priority. The other knock is that he is basically the 2nd coming of Gibbs. The third recruit will be a nondescript big. They are too late on Garza, and Simms looks to be leaning to stay in the South.
Thursday September 1, 2016 1:23 joe from the south side

1:27
[Comment From WadeliteWadelite: ] Tom, the recruiting so far is a concern and the net seems very small for 3-4 slots. Jackson is a long shot. Reports say the staff is only moderately engaged with Simms and much of that is likely due he really favors Pitt and they have plenty of frosh pt available. So that leaves four guys for 3 spots. Three wings and one big. I'd be shocked if they landed two. Meanwhile a cinch verbal in Reuvers keeps moving up on top 100 lists.
 Thursday September 1, 2016 1:27 Wadelite

1:29
[Comment From WadeliteWadelite: ] Btw not sure where you come up with nd beating unc in three of the last four when their last two loss this past season were to them.
 Thursday September 1, 2016 1:29 Wadelite
1:29
Tom Noie: Simple....I forgot about the NCAA tournament game.....three of four before the Easter Sunday shellacking. Thanks!
 Thursday September 1, 2016 1:29 Tom Noie
1:31
[Comment From DD: ] I'm not remotely saying they should sway guys from Duke, UNC, Kentucky. I'm talking about consistently getting guys ranked 40-100. For instance this year, I'm saying it's crucial we more consistently reel in guys like Simms, Morsell, and occasionally Harvey. Virginia is very similar to ND, and they've stepped up their recruiting of late.
 Thursday September 1, 2016 1:31 D

1:38
[Comment From WadeliteWadelite: ] Tom, nd was keeping an eye on Reuvers and he did not verbal until may 18. He was already moving up in the rankings. The only logic I can figure for turning down a cinch verbal from a top 100 recruit was he was too similar to Mooney. The net seems very small for the amount of open spots. I suspect we will see at least two verbals from a couple three stars that surface in much the same way Djogo did.
 Thursday September 1, 2016 1:38 Wadelite

1:45
[Comment From WadeliteWadelite: ] Any follow up article planned with Geben. I see he put up some solid numbers in the 4 Italy games. I have no idea if his direct competition was any good.
