Rex Pflueger leads Notre Dame to easy exhibition hoops win

NASSAU, Bahamas — Notre Dame senior guard Rex Pflueger scored a game-high 20 points with four assists and four steals as the Irish rolled to a 119-61 victory Wednesday over the IBA Elite team in an exhibition game in Nassau, Bahamas.

It’s the first of three exhibition games for the Irish, who placed six in double figures. Junior guard T.J. Gibbs and freshman forward Nate Laszewski each added 17 points. Gibbs and junior guard Nikola Djogo tied for the team lead in assists with six.

Gibbs played a team-high 28 minutes. The Irish led for all but 2:20 and by as many as 58. Notre Dame shot 57.8 percent from the field, 29 percent from 3 and 66.6 percent from the foul line.

Elijah Burns grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds. Sophomore power forward Juwan Durham added 16 points and nine rebounds. Notre Dame finished with 32 fast break points, 36 points off turnovers, 60 bench points and 70 points in the paint.

The Irish scored 67 points in the second half, including 37 in the fourth quarter.

Notre Dame returns to exhibition action Thursday against the NBPA All-Stars.
