Notre Dame men's soccer: Syracuse sidelines ND

Third-ranked Syracuse used a 7-0 run to decisively beat No. 5 Notre Dame, 9-3, in the Big East Tournament semifinals Thursday in Villanova, Pa.

Following a Sean Rogers goal with 10:10 left in the second quarter that knotted the score at 2-all, the Irish went scoreless for 35:19.

Derek Maltz, Kevin Rice and Hakeem Lecky had two goals apiece for Syracuse (12-3).

Senior John Kemp made a season-high 15 saves for Notre Dame (10-4).

The NCAA Tournament field will be announced at 9 p.m. on Sunday.
