Notre Dame softball: Koerner top player finalist

Notre Dame sophomore Emilee Koerner has been named one of the Top 10 Finalists for the 2013 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year award, the Amateur Softball Association (ASA) of America and USA Softball announced Wednesday.
Koerner began the week third in the NCAA in batting average (.479), and was also in the top-20 nationally in doubles per game (fifth, 0.40), on-base percentage (15th, .545) and slugging percentage (18th, .847) as of May 8.
She leads Notre Dame with 78 hits, 21 doubles, three triples, 45 RBIs, 138 total bases and 51 runs scored in 53 games this season.
