Notre Dame track: Five Irish advance

Five Notre Dame track and field athletes advanced to the NCAA National Championship at the second day of the NCAA East Preliminary meet Friday in Greensboro, N.C.
Alexa Aragon took fifth place in the 3000-meter steeplechase in a school-record 10:04.77 and Michelle Brown was sixth in the 400 in a time of 52.55.
Margaret Bamgbose (53.00 in the 400), Megan Yanik (58.66 in the 400 hurdles) and Patrick Feeney (46.93 in the 400) also qualified for Notre Dame.
Jade Barber set a school record in the 100 hurdles in a time of 13.04 but did not advance.
Saturday is the final day of the preliminary meet.
The NCAA Outdoor Track and Field National Championship will be held June 5-8 in Eugene, Ore.
