Notre Dame cross country: Irish teams sweep races

The Notre Dame men's and women's cross country teams captured their respective team titles at the 34th annual National Catholic Championships on Friday at the Burke Memorial Golf Course.

Thirty-seven Catholic universities and colleges competed in three races, with 27 schools hailing from the Division II, Division III or NAIA conferences.

Kelly Curran, Alexa Aragon and Emily Frydych took the top three spots, respectively, with times of 17:17.9, 17:18.5 and 17:34.4 in a field of 298 runners. The distance was a 5K.

In the men's race, Notre Dame's Jake Kildoo (25:05.4) took third, followed by Michael Clevenger (25:05.4), Martin Grady (25:05.6), Jeremy Rae (25:05.8), Walter Schafer (25:06.0) and Patrick Lesiewicz (25:09.7).

Lewis University won the womens' non-division I race, as 2013 Clay graduate Amanda Farrough took third overall with in a time of 18:20.6. It was Farrough's second collegiate race.
