Notre Dame cross country: Irish runners third in ACC
Martin Grady and Jeremy Rae both picked up all-conference honors and led Notre Dame to a third-place finish at the Atlantic Coast Conference Championship meet Friday in Kernersville, N.C.
Grady finished fifth in a time of 24:13.2 and Rae finished in 24:21.8 for 11th place. Syracuse won the men's championship with 64 points. North Carolina was second with 84 and the Irish had 105 points.
J.P. Malette (26th, 24:46.9) and Michael Clevenger (27th, 24:47.6) posted top-30 finishes as well for Notre Dame.
Former Warsaw High School star Jake Poyner, a freshman at Wake Forest, finished 58th. He clocked 25:22.1 and was the No. 3 finisher for Wake Forest.
In the women's race, Kelly Curran (16th, 20:55.8) and Hannah Eckstein (20th, 21:08.7) garnered All-ACC honors for Notre Dame, which finished fourth with 124 points. Florida State topped Virginia, 52-65, for the team title.
Alexa Aragon finished in 21:14.1 for 22nd place overall and Molly Siedel was 26th in a time of 21:23.1 for Notre Dame.
