The Notre Dame cross country teams produced three top-10 finishers at the Great Lakes NCAA Regional Championships on Friday at Madison, Wis.

The Irish men finished third in the team standings, while the ND women took fourth.

For the men, Jeremy Rae finished fifth in the 10-kilometer race with a time of 30:22, while Martin Grady came in just behind him with a time of 30:27 to place sixth. The team's overall score was just 74 points, only four points out of first. Michigan won the men's meet.

On the women's side, Kelly Curran finished the 6K race in third (20:14). She helped the Irish to their fourth-place finish with an overall score of 134 points.

Both teams still don't know if they will be competing at the NCAA Championships, as they did not secure the automatic bid that comes with a first- or second-place finish. However, there is still the possibility that each team will receive an at-large bid, which will be announced Saturday.

Two former local standouts ran strong races for IUPUI in the meet. Joey Zielinski (South Bend St. Joseph) posted an IUPUI 10K record and Miguel Lozano (Mishawaka) wasn't far off his pace for the 11th-place Jaguars.
