Notre Dame soccer: Irish advance past Broncos
ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Sophomore Cari Roccaro's goal in the 69th minute lifted No. 23 Notre Dame to a 1-0 win over Western Michigan in second-round NCAA Tournament action Friday night.
Roccaro redirected a throw-in from Elizabeth Tucker on the goal.
The Irish (13-7-1) dominated the contest statistically with a 24-4 edge in shots and an 8-2 advantage in shots on goal but were stymied until Roccaro's game-winner.
Notre Dame will play Sunday at 1 p.m. against No. 11 Michigan, which blanked Illinois State, 3-0, in the site's other second-round game.
