Notre Dame tennis: Irish upend No. 39 Minnesota

Notre Dame's men's tennis team topped No. 39 Minnesota, 4-3, at the ITA Kick-Off Weekend in Lexington, Ky., Friday.

Senior Greg Andrews and sophomore Alex Lawson, ranked 21st in the country, defeated Jack Hamburg and Mathieu Froment but the other two Irish doubles teams fell to Minnesota, clinching the doubles point for the Golden Gophers.

The Irish came back to win the match in singles, with senior Ryan Bandy claiming victory at No. 2, freshman Josh Hagar winning at No. 3, junior Wyatt McCoy winning in a third set tiebreaker at No. 5, and freshman Eddy Covalschi beating his opponent in straight sets at No. 6.

Notre Dame will play No. 8 Kentucky Saturday in the regional final at 5 p.m.
