Notre Dame women's tennis: Irish battle to beat Hoosiers

Notre Dame’s women’s tennis team edged Indiana 4-3 Sunday in a match in which five of the six singles matches came down to third-set tie-breakers.

The Irish host Michigan on Feb. 15 at 1 p.m.

SINGLES: 1. Katie Klyczek (IU) beat Britney Sanders (ND), 6-1, 4-6, (10-2); 2. Quinn Gleason (ND) beat Carolyn Chupa (IU), 6 (5)-7, 6-3, (12-10); 3. Jennifer Kellner (ND) beat Alecia Kauss (IU), 6-4, 2-6, (10-7); 4. Sophie Garre (IU) beat Monica Robinson (ND), 4-6, 6-3, (10-6); 5. Mary Closs (ND) beat Paula Gutierrez (IU), 6-4, 6-2; 6. Julie Vrabel (ND) beat Shannon Murdy (IU), 4-6, 6-0, (10-5).

DOUBLES: 1. Carolyn Chupa/Katie Klyczek (IU) led Britney Sanders/Quinn Gleason (ND), 4-2; 2. Kayla Fujimoto/Sophie Garre (IU) beat Jennifer Kellner/Monica Robinson (ND), 6-4; 3. Alecia Kauss/Shannon Murdy (IU) beat Julie Sabacinski/Mary Closs (ND), 6-3
