Notre Dame softball: Wester earns ACC honor

Notre Dame freshman outfielder Karley Wester became the first Irish softball player to earn an Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) award by being named the conference player of the week.

The Notre Dame left fielder batted .556 with a team-high five hits, seven RBIs, two stolen bases and three runs, to go along with a.583 on-base percentage in three games last weekend.

The Huntington Beach, Calif., native also made six putouts in left, including a pair of diving grabs.

Wester batted .667 (4-for-6) during the tournament with runners in scoring position.
