Notre Dame softball: Notre Dame responds in 7th
Notre Dame outlasted UC-Davis, 12-11, Friday on the second day of the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic in Cathedral City, Calif.
UC Davis rallied from an 11-6 hole in the top of the seventh inning, but the Irish responded in the bottom of the inning.
Notre Dame (9-1) pushed runners to second and third with one out on a Laura Winter groundout. Junior Cassidy Whidden then hit a chopper to shortstop and a wide throw home allowed freshman Karley Wester to score for the win.
