Notre Dame swimming: Irish third after 1st day

Notre Dame qualified seven swimmers into the upcoming NCAA Championship and set a pair of school records in rolling up 104 points (third place) after day one at the ACC Men’s Swimming Championships Wednesday in Greensboro, N.C.
The Irish 200 medley relay squad of Bogac Ayhan, Cameron Miller, Frank Dyer and Zach Stevens touched in at 1:25.46 to set a school record and qualify for the NCAA Championships March 27-29 in Austin, Texas.
The Notre Dame 800 relay team of Colin Babcock, Dyer, Kevin Hughes and Tom Anderson also set a school record with a 6:21.74 and hit the NCAA A-cut mark.
North Carolina leads after the opening session with 128 points and Virginia Tech is second with 110 points. The ACC Championships continue Thursday.
