Notre Dame baseball: UCLA edges Irish

No. 13 UCLA capitalized on Notre Dame miscues in the first two innings to plate a pair of runs, then rode starting ace James Kaprielian for eight innings to secure a 2-1 victory over the Irish on day one of the USA Baseball-Irish Classic in Cary, N.C.
The game marked the second consecutive season the Bruins (5-5) edged the Irish (3-5) by a 2-1 score. The Irish managed only three hits and got their run in the ninth on an RBI-single by Blaise Lezynski. UCLA is the defending national champion.
