The Notre Dame men’s lacrosse team made its ACC opener unforgettable, rallying for an 11-10 victory at No. 2 North Carolina.

The No. 11 Irish (2-1, 1-0) trailed 8-3 early in the third quarter before responding with five straight goals to tie the game with less than 30 seconds left in the period.

The rally began on a goal from Matt Kavanagh, who had three goals and two assists in the contest.

The Irish grabbed their first lead of the day, 10-9, with about six minutes remaining on a Jack Near goal, before freshman Sergio Perkovic pushed the lead to two with 4:14 left, and the Irish held on from there.
