Notre Dame softball: Irish win thriller

Notre Dame rallied from a late 2-1 deficit against Florida International to post a 4-3 victory. The Irish scored the tying run with two out in the bottom of the seventh inning for for extra innings.

Notre Dame (18-5) won the game on a walk-off RBI double by Chloe Saganowich.

Central Florida beat Notre Dame, 3-0, in the second game.

Junior catcher Cassidy Whidden sparked two Notre Dame comebacks. She led off the seventh with a single and scored the tying run, and she hit a 2-2 homer in the ninth inning to tie the score at 3-3.

Senior pitcher Laura Winter (12-2) threw all 13 innings in game one for Notre Dame, allowing 11 hits and no earned runs, walking none and tying a career-high with 15 strikeouts.
