Notre Dame golf: Nhim paces Irish early

Notre Dame senior Kristina Nhim fired a 4-under 68 to take the early lead after the first day of the Clover Cup in Mesa, Ariz.

The effort helped slot the Irish third among the 15-team field. Notre Dame posted a 299, seven strokes behind leader Colorado.

Irish junior Ashley Armstrong also had a strong start, carding a 73 and sitting in a tie for eighth.

Talia Campbell (t47th, 78), Jordan Ferreira (t62nd, 80) and Kelli Oride (t62nd, 80) rounded out the Notre Dame scorers.
