Notre Dame softball: Irish win home opener

No. 24 Notre Dame opened its home season with a 12-2 victory over Eastern Michigan Wednesday.

Laura Winter (14-3) made Irish program history after entering in relief in the fifth inning and tossing a scoreless final frame to become the all-time leader in career wins with 97.

Winter surpassed Heather Booth’s (’06) total of 96 victories in her 145th appearance.

Chloe Saganowich had three hits and three RBIs. Emilee Koerner contributed a three-run home run and Karley Wester had three stolen bases.
