Notre Dame swimming: Dyer sets ND record

Two-time All-American Frank Dyer got things started out right for Notre Dame at the NCAA Championships in Austin, Texas.
The senior broke his school record in the 500-meter freestyle, the first individual race Thursday.
Dyer finishing with a time of 4:17.13, good for 18th place overall in the preliminaries. Dyer now holds the school record in all four freestyle events.
Notre Dame's 200 freestyle relay team of senior co-captain Colin Babcock, junior All-American Kevin Hughes, sophomore Matthew Buerger and freshman Tom Anderson combined to log a team time of 1:20.93, good for 26th place.
Junior All-American Zach Stephens was 34th in the 200 individual medley in a career-best time of 1:45.52.
Freshman Diver Joe Coumos Was 19th.
