Notre Dame baseball: Irish drop 2

Notre Dame dropped both games of a Sunday doubleheader, 10-2 and 7-5, to Atlantic Coast Conference foe Wake Forest at Four Winds Field at Covelski Stadium.

The Demon Deacons had 31 hits in two games.

The Irish stranded 18 in the two contests. The Irish had four errors, but also turned four double plays to up their nation-leading total to 37.

ND junior Blaise Lezynski went 6-for-9 with three RBIs to improve his team-leading average to .330. He hit .462 for the series.

Pat Connaughton struggled in the first game, yielding nine hits and seven runs in 3Ð innings.

The Irish are 9-17 and 1-11 in the ACC. Wake is 19-10, 8-4. Notre Dame concludes its 10-game home stand at 5:35 p.m. Tuesday at Four Winds Field against Valparaiso.
