Notre Dame softball: Winter drafted

Notre Dame senior Laura Winter was selected seventh overall in the 2014 National Pro Fastpitch Draft Monday by the Akron Racers.

Winter, who was the third pick of the draft’s second round, was the 2013 Big East Conference Player of the Year, owns the school record for strikeouts with 935 and owns a 96-30 career mark.

Winter is a lifetime .293 hitter with 22 doubles, 18 home runs and 70 RBIs.
