Notre Dame softball: Irish sweep North Carolina
Laura Winter fired a one-hitter and Emilee Koerner slammed a three-run home run to lead Notre Dame to a 6-0 win over North Carolina in the opener of an ACC doubleheader in Chapel Hill, N.C., Wednesday.
The Irish (24-6) went on to sweep the twinbill with an 11-6 victory.
Winter struck out seven to improve to 15-4 with the opening-game victory. She also had two hits and an RBI in the game.
The Irish trailed, 4-1, in the nightcap before scoring three times in the fifth inning, three times in the sixth and four in the seventh.
Cassidy Whidden hit two home runs and drove in three for the Irish (5-3 in ACC play) in game two.
