Notre Dame baseball: Irish blow another lead
The Notre Dame baseball team jumped out to a two-run lead for the second game in a row, but Maryland rebounded with three runs in the fifth and sixth innings to claim a 3-2 victory and complete the series sweep in College Park, Md.
Runs by Robert Youngdahl and Cavan Biggio put the Irish (17-30, 4-20 ACC) ahead early before the Terrapins (28-19, 12-14) tied it with a pair of unearned runs in the fifth off Scott Kerrigan.
Then in the sixth Anthony Papio sent a pitch from Donnie Hissa (1-4) over the right-field wall. That would be Hissa’s only mistake as he went 3Ð innings and gave up just two hits.
Notre Dame returns to action next weekend when it hosts Clemson.
