Notre Dame golf: Irish women in 19th

Notre Dame's women's golf team is tied for 19th after the opening round of the NCAA West Regional at Suncadia Resort in Cle Elum, Wash.

The Irish are at 28-over-par 316 on the par-72 Tumble Creek Club course.

The Irish are tied with No. 20 seed Chattanooga and are two shots in back of Portland State and New Mexico, which both shot a 314.

Top-ranked Southern California leads the 24-team field with a 4-under-par 284.

Junior Ashley Armstrong had the best round for the Irish with a 4-over-par 76. Freshman Jordan Ferreira shot a 79, Talia Campbell an 80, and Kelli Oride and Kristina Nhim 81s.
