Notre Dame women's golf: Ferreira earns Open spot

Just a few weeks after completing her freshman season at Notre Dame, Jordan Ferreira qualified for the U.S. Women’s Open.

The University Place, Wash., resident shot rounds of 77-70 for a combined 3-over and took medalist honors in leading the field of 55 players who competed in sectional qualifying Tuesday at Rainier Golf and Country Club in Seattle. Her 2-under 70 in the afternoon round set a women’s course record.

The Women’s Open will be held June 19-22 at Pinehurst No. 2, a week after the U.S. Open takes place there.
