SOUTH BEND — Traffic in and around the University of Notre Dame campus is expected to be heavy this weekend because of various Fighting Irish sporting events.

Notre Dame is inviting fans to campus Friday through Sunday for the free Shamrock Spring Weekend, as six Irish athletic programs compete in Atlantic Coast Conference play.

The weekend features 10 events, including free admission to baseball’s three-game series against North Carolina State, softball’s Strikeout Cancer weekend vs. Syracuse and the women’s lacrosse matchup with Louisville.

The Irish will host a trio of tennis matches, as the men take on Wake Forest and North Carolina State and the women take on Duke.

Fans will have the opportunity to win giveaways throughout the weekend, including pizza from Papa John’s, Notre Dame aluminum water bottles and other prizes.

The Irish men’s lacrosse squad wraps up its home slate against North Carolina at 4 p.m. Saturday, although that game already is sold out.

The Blue-Gold spring football game will be played at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at LaBar Practice Complex. However, the game this year is by invitation only, and no tickets are available to the general public. The NBC Sports Network will televise the Blue-Gold game live. Fans on campus can view the game on the video board in Purcell Pavilion in the Joyce Center.

Concessions and the Hammes Bookstore will be open in the Gate 4 parking lot, on the northeast corner of the Joyce Center.

Free parking for all the events is available in the Library, Bulla, Stadium and Joyce lots. Normal tailgating policies will be in effect.
