Wake Forest trips Irish baseball

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Notre Dame (28-14, 12-11 ACC) dropped a 4-2 decision to Wake Forest here Saturday, in a game delayed two hours at the start by rain.

Kyle Fiala led the Irish, going 3-for-4 with an RBI to extend his on-base streak to 31 games.

Irish freshman righty Brandon Bielak started and earned a no-decision. He went 5 1/3 innings and allowed two runs, nine hits and a walk, striking out five on 119 pitches. Fellow freshman righty Evy Ruibal (0-2) suffered the loss after allowing two runs, two hits and a walk in 2 2/3 innings in relief.

Wake improved to 24-20, 10-13 ACC.

The series is tied, 1-1, and the two teams meet at 12:30 p.m. (ET) Sunday.
