Rain pushed back Saturday night’s scheduled NCAA Tournament regional baseball game between second-seeded Notre Dame and top seed Illinois at Champaign, Ill.

The Irish (37-21) are now expected to take on the Illini (48-8) at 4 p.m. (EDT) on Sunday, following the completion of an elimination game between third-seeded Wright State (41-16) and fourth-seeded Ohio (36-20). That game was suspended Saturday after two innings, with Wright State leading, 5-2.

The elimination game is scheduled to start at noon on Sunday.

The Illinois-Notre Dame loser will play the Wright State-Ohio survivor in an elimination game, 55 minutes after the completion of the winners’ bracket contest.

The Irish opened Friday with a 13-7 victory over Wright State in the four-team, double-elimination regional tourney. The host Illini dispatched Ohio, 10-3.
