ND falls to Heels

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — Notre Dame’s Micaela Arizmendi hit a grand slam home run to tie the game, but it wasn’t enough in a 7-6 softball loss to North Carolina Monday.

The Irish (35-8, 10-5 ACC) trailed, 6-2, after four innings before Arizmendi’s blast tied the game in the top of the fifth. In the bottom of the sixth, the hosts put runners on second and third and pushed across the winning run on a sacrifice fly by Kristen Brown off ND’s Katie Beriont (5-2).
