Irish blast Connecticut
SOUTH BEND — Goals by Joe Wegwerth and Cam Morrison staked Notre Dame to a 2-0 lead through two periods and the Irish erupted for four tallies in the third en route to a 6-2 win over Connecticut on Friday night at the Compton Family Ice Arena.
Connor Hurley started the third-period scoring burst with a goal at the 1:09 mark. Jack Jenkins scored his first goal of the season and put ND up 4-0 with just under 12 minutes left in the game. Anders Bjork scored the final two Irish goals and added an assist.
Cal Petersen made 30 saves for Notre Dame (4-3-1, 1-1-0 Hockey East).
