BC rallies to topple Irish in hockey
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. — Chris Calnan scored his second goal of the game at 15:59 in the third period to help No. 11 Boston College rally for a 6-4 hockey victory over No. 15 Notre Dame Saturday.
After the Irish took a 4-2 lead on Andrew Oglevie's short-handed goal in the second period, BC scored four straight to improve to 17-9-2 overall and 12-3-1 in Hockey East.
The teams traded goals early with Anders Bjork putting ND up, 1-0, on his 16th goal of the season 64 seconds into the game only to have Calnan draw the Eagles even with his goal at 4:58. Oglevie put ND up less than two minutes later and the Eagles answered with a Chris Brown goal at 4:48 in the second period. Felix Holmberg gave the Irish the lead back at 6:35 and Oglevie gave the Irish a two-goal cushion.
BC got goals from Colin White, Julius Mattila, Calnan, and Ryan Fitzgerald to complete the comeback. Joe Woll stopped 29 shots for Boston College.
Cal Petersen made 38 saves for Notre Dame (14-9-3, 7-5-2 Hockey East), which was outshot 14-9 in the third period and 44-33 in the game.
