Irish hockey team recovers from early deficit
ORONO, Maine — Dylan Malmquist scored a pair of goals and Notre Dame ran off four straight goals after falling behind 2-0 early to post a 4-2 win over Maine in Hockey East Saturday.
Blaine Byron put the Black Bears (10-17-3, 4-13-1) up 1-0 less than a minute into the contest and pushed the lead to 2-0 following a Brendan Robbins goal three minutes into the second period.
Jordan Gross and Malmquist scored power play goals at 8:44 and 18:41 in the second to tie the game and Malmquist's game-winner from Dennis Gilbert and Dawson Cook was scored at 2:46 in the third. Andrew Oglevie pushed the Irish advantage to two goals with his goal with just over three minutes left in the game. Bobby Nardella had a pair of assists and Anders Bjork had a helper for Notre Dame (17-9-4, 10-5-3).
Cal Petersen made 17 saves as ND moved into a tie for third place in the league.
