Albrecht leads Irish women golfers to title

Behind co-medalist Emma Albrecht, the Notre Dame women’s golf team took home its first championship in almost two years as the Irish downed runner-up Wisconsin by four strokes to win the Bettie Lou Evans Invitational at the University Club of Kentucky’s Big Blue Course (par 72, 6,221 yards). It was shortened to two days because of weather issues.

Notre Dame carded rounds of 296 and 292 over Saturday’s final 36 holes to finish at 872 (+6), outdistancing Wisconsin’s 876 and third-place Penn State’s 880.

Albrecht carded rounds of 69 and 72 to cap her 54-hole weekend with a 211 (-5), matching Kentucky’s Grace Rose in the 96-player field.

The last Notre Dame player to take medalist honors was Kristina Nhim, who won the Clover Cup in Mesa, Ariz. on March 16, 2014.

ND's Maddie Rose Hamilton tied for fourth with an even par 216, followed by Abby Heck (6-over, tie for 15th) and Isabella DiLisio (7-over, tie for 20th).
