Irish to skate at United Center
Wonder why there’s an asterisk next to the Jan. 21 game with Wisconsin on your Notre Dame hockey pocket schedule? Well, you need wonder no more.
Following the Badgers’ visit to the Compton Family Ice Arena on Friday, Jan. 19 this season, the teams will travel to Chicago to complete the Big Ten series on Sunday, Jan. 21 at 3 p.m. ET in the United Center, the home of the NHL’s Chicago Blackhawks.
Notre Dame and Wisconsin announced a pair of games at the United Center Monday. The other game will be one of Wisconsin’s home games during the 2018-19 season.
The United Center was the venue last season for the NCAA Frozen Four and Irish coach Jeff Jackson believes a regular-season game at a big venue will be helpful come NCAA tournament time. Last season’s Irish squad lost in the Frozen Four semifinals to eventual NCAA champ Denver.
"Providing our team with the chance to compete in an NHL building is always a great experience and one that can prepare us for future games,” Jackson said. “Continuing to build on our relationships with the Chicago Blackhawks and United Center, while also playing where so many of our great fans and alumni live, makes it an even more worthwhile trip."
Presale tickets for the game will be available to Notre Dame and Wisconsin season-ticket holders from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. ET this Thursday, Nov. 16. General-admission tickets will be available Friday beginning at 11 a.m. ET online at unitedcenter.com, in person at the United Center box office or by calling Ticketmaster at (800) 745-3000.
